General Leasing Questions
Can I have a pet?
Can incoming freshmen live here?
Only those students who have completed their SU housing requirements are allowed to live with us.
Can we bring our own furniture?
You can add to the furniture in the apartment, but you cannot take any of our furniture out of the apartment.
Does an application guarantee a spot?
No, only a completed lease guarantees a spot, not an application.
How are roommates matched?
We have partnered with RoomSync to provide a modern matching platform where residents choose their own roommates. After you complete the leasing process you will be emailed a link to join our RoomSync network. You will then log in to RoomSync using Facebook, create a matching profile, and begin your search to find your new best friend - or roommate for starters. If you already have a roommate in mind, you can confirm your roommate request within RoomSync.
If I'm over 21, do I still need a guarantor?
Yes. All leases are required to have a guarantor. If an approved guarantor cannot be obtained, Greystar will accept a security deposit of one (1) installment.
If one of my roommates moves out, am I responsible for their rent?
No, you are covered by our individual lease liability.
Is alcohol allowed?
All Federal, State, and Local laws apply. However, large quantities i.e. kegs, party balls, etc. are prohibited at all times including consumption in public areas.
Is parking included?
Parking spaces are available on a limited first come-first served basis. We have coverage for over 80% of the beds at the property.
Is smoking allowed?
University Village Apartments is a smoke-free environment.
Is University Village Apartments considered on-campus housing?
No, University Village Apartments is considered off-campus housing. You should check with the SU Housing Department to be sure you have fulfilled their requirements before applying.
Do I need to be an SU student to live here?
Yes, you must be an SU student paying SU tuition, and completed their housing requirements.
What types of leases are available?
We offer 10 or 12 installment leases.
Is the cost per person?
Yes. We offer individual leases in either a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apt. or 4 bedroom 4 bathroom apt.
What are the window dimensions?
Bedroom is 55w x 60h and Living Room is 80w x 60h.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Check, money order (No fees) or online payments using VISA, MC. Discover, Electronic Check (fees apply).
What is included in the rent?
Rent includes wireless internet and all utilities. Electricity is included up to $80/month for a 2x2 and $140/month for a 4x4. Overages will be billed equally to all roommates. Apartments are fully furnished with central air and heat, hardwood-like floors, and full modern kitchens including dishwashers. Microwave is included. A washer and dryer is located in each unit. Exclusive use of our clubhouse amenities is also included. There is much more through events, services, and other amenities not mentioned that is included in the rate above.
What size bed is in the bedroom?
80 inch full size. (extra long)
When do I put down a deposit?
The security deposit in the amount of one month rent is due at the time of move in. This is only due for applicants that are self qualifying without a guarantor. When you turn in your application, we require payment of the application fee of $20 (one-time charge). The application fee is due for every applicant. The service fee of $200 is due the first month after move in.
Are you connected with the SU cashier?
No, we are not.
When is the deadline to turn in applications?
There is no deadline. Availability is based on a first come-first serve basis. You can either drop off your application with fees when the leasing office is open or apply online at www.uvcolvin.com 24 hours a day. A signed completed lease actually reserves a space!
Will my financial aid cover my rent?
You should review any documentation concerning grants, loans or scholarships with your parents and the financial aid office. Most loans that would cover on-campus housing should cover or come close to completely covering University Village Apartments. It is ultimately up to you to do the research.
Will you have RA's?
We will have Community Assistants (CAs) to help out with lock-outs, noise complaints, social events, and leasing duties.
Renewal Questions
Can I request different roommates?
We want you to be comfortable here, and we will do everything we can to accommodate your roommate requests.
What is a "renewal"?
Are you loving it here and can't imagine leaving at the end of your lease? By signing a renewal, you get to extend your stay at your community!
If I renew, do I have to move out and then move back in?
When you renew and choose to stay in your current spot, no moving is required!
If I renew, will my guarantor have to sign again?
No. Your guarantor doesn't have to do anything extra!
I'm graduating in December, can I still renew?
Contact the office for details on the options available to you.
I just moved in, is it too early to renew?
Renewing now will provide the most benefit to you. By signing early, you will secure your space for next year and take advantage of the best pricing available.
How do I renew?
Just make a quick stop by our office to complete your renewal. It's that easy!
When do I start paying the new rent amount?
On the first day of your new lease.
